I am currently running Autocad R12 & 3DStudio R3 on a 486 66 PC clone with 16Meg of Ram & a Diamond Viper VLbus card with 2Mvram. I use 3DS3 for Architectural visualization for still image hardcopy output only. I would like to expand my visualization capabilities to include animated FLY-BY's and WALKTHROUGH's. For this reason I intend to upgrade my system to a new 66Mhz. Pentium PC with 32meg of Ram, a double speed CDROM drive, and a 64 bit truecolor capable graphics accellerator card with 4M vram. I would also like to be able to lay my animations to tape without having to make a huge investment in a single frame VTR. I have heard about some of the new Digital Video Recording cards available for the PC. I would appreciate anyone who is currently using 3DStudio in this manner to please help me make my purchasing decisions. Your experitise is greatly appreciated.
