#Eco-Rendering…

Hi John,
<<1) Buy more ram. Swapping will murder your rendering times.>>
I got 32 megs. I'm full up!
I do the splitting into segments – a good suggestion.
I have read the article Michele wrote about MATTE objects. Very interesting
idea – maybe be worth a try…
Matte objects and alpha composites in video post are exactly what I was
referring to when I said split the render up into elements. Michelle's article
is an excellent guide/jumping off point for doing this.
32megs is definitely the least useable amount of memory for 3DS. I would
suggest swapping motherboards. I don't know about ISA, but my EISA board will
hold up to 256megs of RAM, and I believe ALR's Evolution V will hold up to 1gig
of ram (I'd love to see the redraws a 1gig project file would cause…).

naughty blanket statement! <g>
I'm doing fine with 16mb, 16mb, 12mb on my 3 machines and I almost never page.
Most of my stuff is at 320×200 though and there is lots still being done at the
rez throughout the industry.
