I'd like to use the f/stops for exposure. Depth of field is a whole nother matter, but something that's definitely crucial. There's been talk about a "focus" IPAS, but I haven't been able to find it. James

James, Depth of field is possible, but it is not an easy or fast procedure. The technique I believe most people are talking about is rendering the various portions of the scene (fore, mid & back ground) as seperate images with alpha on, and then recompose the series of images (from the back to the fore) applying various levels of blur to the respective images. Now you can either apply this blur in VideoPost w/ BLUR.IXP or exit to a paint program (such as PhotoStyler 2.0, PhotoShop 2.0 or Altimira) and blur & composite there. The latter is, of course, not too practical for animations but does work for stills. The more depth-of-filed realism you require (and/or the higher the resolution), the more of your model you will need seperate. Hope that helps a bit – it's not easy, but the effects can be quite good if you have the patience. – Phil p.s. The procedure is discussed in chapter 18 of "Inside 3D Studio" <g>. p.p.s If anyone DOES know of a TRUE depth-of-field IPAS I'd love to know about it and acquire it!
