I am looking for some general feedback on what the industry is like for 3
dimensional screen savers.
Is there a lot of people doing this and if not why, what are the drawbacks?

The industry is saturated. There are CD-ROMs full of them. The problem for any
one company creating them is that the costs outweigh the returns. Look for the
CDs from Wizard Software.
