#AniP/3ds font HELP!
5 messages in this thread
I need to do some 8-bit animation (graphs and text) for an interactive video
and, of course, I need to do it NOW. My question/problem is this:
I wanted to use the standard corporate font (univers) and thought I could in
AniPro 1.3. The font however, looks awful (really jaggy) and I see other m
people have had similar problems with adobe type 1 fonts in ver. 1.3. As far as
I can tell ny choices are…use 3DS — I have version 2.01a–to create the
animation, use a different font, or create the text in exactly the correct size
in Corel 4.0 and export to GIF, then loading into AniPro to composite over my
charts.
Which will be the fastest, most hassle-free way of approaching this project? I
have got to do about 4 minutes by Monday and only got approval of the story
boards yesterday evening!
Thanks in advance…

Chris,
When I;ve been faced with that problem, I've gone the Corel to .GIF route.
At least it works reliably. If you've never done it before, make sure that
you've saved the palette to want to use in AniPro in AniPro's format. I always
have to load my palette after bringing in the Corel GIF to Animator and color
fit the screen. I'm not particularly pleased with Corel's palette choices, and
almost always have to do major color adjustments on anything I bring in from
this route. But, the text DOES LOOK BETTER.
Hopw that this helps. – – – George.
Thanks for the reply George. Now, I haven't put much thought into it or tried
it yet, but what about creating the palette in AniPro and then (through what
process??) creating an identical custom palette for Corel? Perhaps this is more
trouble than it's worth, but I think I'll check out the possibilities. I always
need one or two (potentially useless) distracting projects when I'm up against
a deadline…

Well, changing the Corel Pallette was my first thought too.<G>
While the files have identical extensions (.PAL), naturally they
aren't compatible. What I think you have to do (and also why I gave
up on it) is manually get the list of the the 256 colors in the
AniPro palette that you want to use – the 3 RGB values for each
color. Then, since AniPro uses scaling from 0 to 255, you have to
scale each value to Corel's 0 to 100. I got thru about 8 values when
I decided this was insane, and merely reloaded my standard pallette
over the Corel import gif.
It is possible to do this obtaining and scaling of the palette
thru a POCO program, which would speed it up. The one thing I don't
know about is what one does about Window's 20 reserved colors. When
you look at the available Corel palettes, it obvious that they let
Windows do its own thing.
I hope that my copy of 1.3a shows up soon (I did send in the bug
report.) as it's getting to be a pain dealing with all the
COMPATIBILITY that one gets using these major programs. – – – George.
I reached the same conclusion (about the insanity part) and I'm
sending off my bug report today. Thanks for the suggestions.
