#shaper get shape

Wade,
In assembling mesh objects in the 3d editor there are certain commands
that
I have questions about:
1. In putting together two rectangular mesh objects to form
a monilithic shape w/ no seam it's possible to zoom into the required
enlargement to use mod/obj/move for perfect allignment, the obj
changes color or if it's irregular I get a box. At times though
there is no color change of the obj and I get a bounding box that
does not represent the object's shape. Or there is no box or color
change and I have to allign blindly in steps. What's wrong here is
it me or it?
2.using mod/obj/rotate to allign certain obj is really awkward
w/o angle snap. zoomed in very close to two objects, both rotate and
scale seem to be less precise for alligning than move. Movement of
the objects using these commands is jumpy and hard to control when
zoomed in. Am I not setting up the project at the proper world scale
or something?
3. in mapping an obj the plannar icon is easy to see in plan
viewports however in side view it is represented by tiny, almost
invisible points of light that are a problem to see.
Any help is good. I hope I've been clear enough. I should probably
quit griping and just get busy.
1. A bounding box will just show the outer most reaches of an object; so a
bounding box will not represent and object's shape, only it's perimeter. As far
as changing color, when I move an obj. its bounding box turns grey no matter
what color the obj. is.
2. The smallest increment for both rotate and scale is 1/4 of a
unit(degree or %) in the 3D Editor. You can enter from keyboard in
the Key Info window in Keyframer.
3. What kind of video card are you using. I know some folks have had
trouble seeing the mapping icon if they don't have the most recent
driver for their card. You should double check this. What's probably
going on is the planar icon _is_ difficult to see end-on. I can see
mine OK from right or left but from the top I do see what you're
describing.
Hang in there.
