Hi, John! Sorry, I don't remember if I gave you my mail address: Aleksey Popelyukhin 65 Bay 19th. St, #3-B Brooklyn, NY 11214 (212) 701-8942 Also, I just realized where I've heard this name "Syndesis" : it's a manufacturer of Syndesis 3D-ROM, isn't it? Now, question: if I want to get your next 3D-ROM for free, what kind of mesh should I submit? Who is a jury, what are criterii? Complexity, importance or anything will fit (cube with default material)? Could you somehow specify what do you expect from people to submit?

Yes, we're the same company. We made the 3D-ROM to demonstrate to 3D artists on all platforms the power of our 3D file format translators. That's why we give it away to anyone advanced enough to make a model, copy it to a disk, and mail it to us. 🙂 It's good advertising! I'd encourage you to send more than one model, and send something you're proud of. We don't have any requirements beyond that. If we had rules, there would be exceptions, and we'd spend more time working around the exceptions. We don't guarantee that your model will be used on the next edition of the 3D-ROM. If we do use it, then you get a free copy of the disc. If you send a default cube, we won't put it on the next disc. Simple, no? Several employees at Syndesis are the jury. At some point, I look over the models, too, but I'm not the ranking member of the jury. In this way, the 3D-ROM helps people see exactly what other people are creating in the 3D universe. We have contributions from artists who use many different programs on many different platforms: 3DS, LightWave, Imagine, Ray Dream, Strata, etc.

Since Impulse can't seem to get DXF format quite right, I have to ask: Do you support Imagine 3.0 (DOS) in your translation products? If so, please send me some info. Thanks.

Yes, we support Imagine "TDDD" file format, which is used in both their Amiga and MS-DOS products. Please send me your postal address in private Easyplex e-mail, and I'll add you to our mailing list. Thanks! Moving between 3DS and Imagine involves few compromises, the file formats store very similar sorts of 3D information.
