Being relatively new to this stuff, I know there must be a vendor CD/ROM, etc that allow you to import pre-designed, material-applied and mapped goodies, like furniture, road signs etc. Can you guys give me a little help (and direction?) TIA!

You need to give us, Viewpoint DataLabs, a call at 1-800-DATASET. Viewpoint creates and sells 3-D models called Datasets. I would be happy to send you 5 free Dataset as well as anyone else out there. Mind you that these are only wireframe and you will apply your own textures and colors. We have a CD ROM of .3ds files that has about 1,000 Dataset on it. So give me a call.
