Rusty:
To use GIF on your Amiga, you'll need a program that understands that file
format (Deluxe Paint doesn't), or a conversion program that will convert
from GIF to IFF. Commercial programs such as Art Department Pro and
ImageMaster will do that. There are also some public domain programs that
will do conversions. Check the library here.
