#Starting VoTech Classes?
3 messages in this thread
Hi,
I'm located in Delaware and I've been advocating that the local VoTech school
offer 3D-Animation/Desktop-Video classes. As far as I can tell there are no
accredited schools or universities in this region that currently offer any
training in these subjects. The only 3DS training is provided by dealers,
Desktop TV is through magazines and on your own. I believe that there is
sufficient demand for these classes, but I have not found a source to prove
this to the school. With proof of enough potential students the school would be
in a better position to buy the equipment and software, hire an instructor and
offer the classes.
Can someone tell me where I can find this kind of demographic information? Also
what would these courses require in the way of equipment and software? Would
each student need a workstation and software or could a class use only one or
two and share? Any comments from those interested or already involved with
training would be appreciated!

Andy….
I just did a demographic study for our Autodesk MTC status. Check your
local employment center or government statistics center (census data) for info
on professionals working in your area. We looked up data on Architects,
engineers, landscape architects, GIS professionals, Graphic artists, Video &
performing artists, and Educators. Once we had this info we gestimated
approximate percentages of potential clients in each area. then multiply times
average revenue per client and voila… A revenue figure…
A dart board is sometimes more useful :-)…..But the management guys
like this stuff….

WE WILL TRAIN TEACHERS ON DTV
I will be offering Teacher training classes this summer for 3-D Studio and
Desk Top Video. The classes will be located in State College PA near Penn
State. Have any of the instructors call here for more info or contact me via
CIS. They will carry college credit and will last 1 week each with 45 contact
hours. There may be others thru out the US. I can be reached at home at
814-237-8078. We will prepare the teachers for hands on instruction of 3ds and
give a good background in pedogogical issues such as curriculum development and
evaluation
