#Edit prog. for PAR

Hi Greg I'm taking the plunge…. getting a PAR. Would you mind telling me what edit program (s) you use? Is Adobe Premier a viable option or do I have to go with Razor Pro and, if I do, is Razor really as good as my dealer tells me? As always Thanks in Advance -David

We don't use either of the edit programs on a daily basis, we have a full A/B roll BetaSP edit suite here with the PAR's big brother, an Accom WSD/XL. I've played a bit with both Razor Pro and Premier, especially in terms of making sure that our PAR drivers worked with them, and prefer Razor Pro of the two. Greg Pyros

David, you may want to wait as DPS is close to releasing a new PAR. It's called Perception Video Recorder and it uses any SCSI2 hard drive. It also has much better output thanks to it's 10-bit video encoding. It will allow cuts-only editing on the fly from the interface with non-destructive editing of animations. The real kicker is it probably won't be much more than PAR. Another thing to note is that the video-capture board for it will take YC,composite and COMPONENT(!) video inputs. This will allow for near-lossless video capture from a Betacam or MII video deck. I think they are planning to show it at NAB if they can get a driver done by then. Regards. Thanks for 3DS vs. LW thread… I saw what Yost et all sent you about "being constructive", and for the very first time, I disagree with him (them?). Using multiple tools is almost a necessity Anytime I debate something, I always learn more about it. Thanks Now as far as what you said about the PAR…. WOW! My dealer told me to hold off 'til he got back from NAB ( I can't make it) and now I know why. Do you know if it needs a seperate TBC to capture video like the PAR? What is the "Capture unit" you mentioned? Thanks -David BTW when will your demo reel be ready? I'd like to see it.

Thanks, I look forward to seeing your Demo. Now what is this I hear about the new DPS unit being a "stand alone " device, no computer necessary? Do you know if this is just one version with a PC "internal" version also available? My source (not my reg. dealer) says he thinks it is only stand alone and will cost substantually more than the PAR. ???? I hope he's wrong.
