I just received Metaballs today and I am trying to get started with it. I've run into a problem with trying to assign fusion values to the reference spheres with MASIGN.PXP. I've chosen MASIGN, then hit OK, then it asks me to choose an object and click to assign colors, but as I left click, the sphere doesn't change colors. Am I missing something? Thanks. -James Franssen

James, << Am I missing something?>> doesn't seem like it – You run Masign – then hit OK – then click on a sphere in the active viewport. If you're still having problems, here's a work-around: When you run Masign, note the color numbers of the fusion values. Then hit Modify/Object/Change Color and select that color # for your object. Because Mshape recgonized reference spheres based on their color, you can change their colors by selected groups as well, and everything will work fine. I often change colors by selected groups because I work with 100's of reference spheres at a time. another note: the detail of your reference spheres does not matter at all – Mshape takes only the center point info and the radius value when it creates the meta object. So, I keep the detail of my reference spheres at 10 segments – which is just enough detail to work comfortably with. -Kyle

It just seems odd that I can't do it the way it is outlined in the manual. BTW, your face-hugger was one of the main reasons I decided to purchase Metaballs, Schreiber should send you a kick-back 🙂 -James Franssen

James, You really should be able to do it the regular way (Masign.pxp). I would go through it again. <<face-hugger was one of the main reasons I decided to purchase Metaballs>> I'm glad you purchased it – I think it's one of the best routines out there. -Kyle

I just tried this work-around and found that I only have 1 color in which to choose from, 0 white. My color palette is dead. What do I do now :z Help me if you can, thanks. Meanwhile, I'll search through the manual. -James Franssen

James, I'm glad you got it worked out – the problem didn't seem to be Masign because the routine is so simplistic in function – but I didn't know what else it could be. So, now you can get modeling! don't hesitate to shoot any questions you might have my way . . . -Kyle
