Kyle Hi. Just a question about the shape of the original sphere. Is there a way to scale the sphere (like in 2D) so that it is flat, thus affecting the meta ball mesh accordingly? I tried this but the metaball still created a sphere. Any suggestions? Thanks. -James Franssen

James, <<face-hugger was one of the main reasons I decided to purchase Metaballs>> nope – you've got to use multiple reference spheres to create 'non-ball" shapes. Scaling reference spheres 2D has no 2D effect on the outcome of the mesh. Mshape and Manim look only at the position of the center of the reference sphere, and it's largest (I think) radius value. <<Any suggestions?>> sure – make a copy of your reference sphere and move it so it's still intersecting the original sphere – you'll have to play with it to get what you want. Also, I'd try to become familiar with using the snapshot comaand to create evenly spaced arrays of reference spheres. -Kyle

oops – in my last message, I pasted what was pasted in my clipboard memory – which wasn't from your message, it SHOULD read like this . . . <<Is there a way to scale the sphere (like in 2D) so that it is flat>> nope – you've got to use multiple reference spheres to create 'non-ball" shapes. sorry for any confusion 🙂 I'm losing my mind!!!
