#video playback capture
5 messages in this thread
I need to be able to capture and digitize images from a video in
source(ntsc). I don't need to have the ability to capture 'live' video. I also
need the ability to output my .gif or .flc files to video tape (ntsc). I had
been using the Magni VGA Prducer for the export and Computer Eyes for the
import until I upgraded to a Pentium and found out that they were not
compatable. I have heard of a product called "Studio Magic" that seem to claim
that they will serve the purpose I am looking for and all on one card.
Does anyone have any experience with thsi product or any type of product
like it? I would like to be able to input and output in either regular or
S-VHS. Any feedback would be appreciated…

The combo I use for laying animations to video tape and for capturing video is
the DPS PAR board with the TBCIV capture board. The combo requires a dedicated
hard drive. There is a thread in the library which contains a debate about
this card and the MAX system from Matrox. Another entry into this category is
the MARS board which offers slightly less resolution but has a more attractive
price tag. The specs and description for this board is also in the library I
believe.

Thanks for the info. I'm off to check out the lib.

I have been using a Magni VGA Producer Pro but it will only work
with 8-Bit output. Any Program that requires truecolor (i.e.,
15, 16, or 24-bit) will not work. I only get trash on the Television
Monitor. Do you have the same problem. How do I get 24-bit Color
out to the NTSC monitor. I have had this problem with several
video cards.
I have been using the Magni VGA Producer(not Pro) for over 5 years with
a 386 system and have had no problems with the limited use I have put it to.
My problem comes up when I find out that it will not fit/work in my new system.
Hence the need to find a new board…
