>> Geezz I kinda liked it! << So did I… guess I wasn't sarcastic enough. <g> Although the things that impressed me were probably not so obvious. I thought the drapery and silk tablecloth blowing in the wind on "Nuvogue" was well done, the waterfall in "Ascent" (top view) was well-crafted, and someone spent a hellacious amount of time on the meshwork of the temple at Luxor. I even recognized the heiro's (into that stuff in a dangerous way)… very accurate takeoffs. The re-use of Virtus got old, but the look was cool. I was also impressed by the concept of "Legacy". The weakest segment I thought was "Quantum Mechanic" (despite my liking of the music), old manicans and too long a tunnel. -dave

Mind if Eye jump in? I the thought Gate was pretty interesting. My biggest dissapointment is that there seems to be an aversion to over-glitzed imagery in some spots. I would really enjoy some more Pixar-style work combined with the quality of imagery found in "Gate". I really miss the story-line sort of animations. I know vortices are getting cliche, but I thought that one a the beginning of "N.E.O." was pretty fun. I would have to press my talents petty hard to reproduce that one. I also like the animations with the graceful hands towards the end of "Valley" (titled "LAKME" in the credits). Very artful. The technical quality of the works in Gate was its most favorable aspect. I just get tired of the old fly-through stuff. Exeptions to this were all of the Sci-Fi Channel segmets (ReZ.n8, Xaos) and the Luxor segments. These are great. I also thought the TD soundtrack was awesome. set mode couch_critic=off — James — Choreo Motion —

I agree with everything you said except I thought the Quantum Mechanic strobe effect was "Different", something I hadn't seen done before. It made me think about how they did it. I also got out the 3D Glasses but No Luck! <BG> The tunnel I certainly agree upon was Blaise' to say the least. sorta like it should have been on last years tape. I also liked most of Thomas Dolby's stuff but don't tell my Audio Guy that, he didn't think it was too creative. Of course he writes Orchestration and has Degree's in music from both Boston Music and Berkley so I gotta go with what he says. BTW you can get his CD through me if your in to CHAKRA, Vibrational Healing/ Lower Chakras,Etc. This isn't an ad for anything I sell so please don't anybody jump on me, I only own one copy and it's cause I like it that I mentioned it. Bettter yet Do NOT contact me: Here's Gary's company stuff: Contact: Garye At: Electric Shadow Productions P.O. Box 8131 Green Bay, Wisconsin 54308-8131 LaTER ! Murph'

Of course he writes Orchestration and has Degree's in music from both Boston Music and Berkley so I gotta go with what he says. << IMHO, the "piece of paper" is moot. when i hear anyone talk about degrees, to me that translates as "years away from the real world"… accumulated knowledge only goes so far before you pay the price of no-experience. 🙂 i have degrees too, and they aren't worth jack when generating this stuff. its all concept, creativity, ingenuity with the toolsets, communication skills and the right attitude for each project. if he writes orchestration, he's probably a decent musician (and perhaps he's looking at from an audio-technical perspective as i look at it from a visually technical perspective), but comparing "his" work to anyone else's (like Dolby's) seems like apples and oranges and a matter of taste at best. TDolby sells. it wouldn't if he wasn't "good" at what he does, and i'm a paying customer! >> BTW you can get his CD through me if your in to CHAKRA, Vibrational Healing/ Lower Chakras,Etc. << kewl! >> This isn't an ad for anything I sell so please don't anybody jump on me, I only own one copy and it's cause I like it that I mentioned it. << i won't as i understand your intention here, and i appreciate the info. >> Here's Gary's company stuff: Contact: Garye At: Electric Shadow Productions P.O. Box 8131 Green Bay, Wisconsin 54308-8131 << thanks! i hope i don't seem like a snob here, James, i'm really not.<g> i'm just inherently cautious around "experts"… my methods change by the day, and as a musician also (25 years piano/keyboards/synth) i've learned that there's no one "right way" of doing this stuff (or writing effective music for it). Mozart wrote some great stuff too, but there's a time and a place for it, if you know what i mean. Same for Dolby. -dave
