My favorite modeler just quit! Look at this quote from Hash:

Boy, I sure hope somebody gets into the "spline to DXF" business. I will pray
for a spline modeling IPAS plug-in that is solid. No more Animation Master
upgrades for me! Oh well.

I wonder why they did that…. (bizarre move, considering a large part of their
market was as an add-on to other apps, like 3DS)

PTLFJI (Pardon This Lurker For Jumping In), BUT, doesn't it seem that ADESK's
decision to make ACAD r13 .DXF files not
backward compatible might be the real bad guy here?? It sure seems right to
me. Maybe Hash could be convinced to
keep v12 DXF compatible output, but not add v13 compatible changes – seems
worth a shot anyway

P.S. I don't have any Hash products myself so I suggest those users who do try
to convince Hash of this – I know – so why am I jumping
in ??? – because I do have ACAD12 and am VERY convinced NOT to go to
ACAD13, and this is just another nail in the coffin!!!
The ACAD r13 DXF issue is totally beyond me. You might get some enlightenment
about it from someone in the ACAD forum, however.

You can post your DXF related questions in the AutoCAD forum, GO ACAD.
We are not really involved with that over here in ASOFT.

I am surprised you don't find any relevance is discussing DXF files in
the Asoft forum. What are all those DXF file providers like Acuris, Viewpoint,
etc. going to do if you exclude DXF from this forum? I'm puzzled. I never
mentioned Autocad once, so why would you assume I was discussing that software?
Perhaps you are not aware of the large number of DXF mesh objects that
are used world wide in 3D STudio. I ssume you are part of Autodesk and that
you must have knowledge of 3D STudio. Let's say I want an anotomically perfect
human pelvis…Would I loft it in the 3DS Lofter? No. I would by a DXF, and
import it into 3D STudio, not Autocad. Please clarify your message about
going to the Autocad forum to discuss DXF.

I am not claiming that there is no relevance. On the contrary, I agree with you
that there significant impact to the 3D Studio world.
What I am letting you know is that there are discussions happening on the ACAD
forum. If you want to participate in those discussions, that is the place to
be.

I am "discussed out" regarding DXF for this week. If the new spline
modeler IPAS works well, there will be less reason to import meshes except from
packages like Autocad.
