hello everyone. I'm new to this forum and am just looking around for now. I am attempting to teach myself 3d Studio version 3.0. If anyone has any suggestions about a certain book or video that might help me I would appreciate it.

TAKE ALL THE TUTORIALS. This is probably the best advice you'll get from anyone. After you're done, TAKE THEM AGAIN! Then watch the Digimation Tapes, read Inside 3D Studio, read 3D Studio Applied, read Falling Water, then you should probably stop and sleep for a few hours. p.s. But don't go to sleep before first loading up your rendering que! -Lee Oh and don,t forget to read all the great tips you'll get right here on the forum. That alone can take all day <g>.

> p.s. But don't go to sleep before first loading up your rendering que! < I think this should be considered the golden rule of animation! We all know it, we all practice it, but we never really discuss it because it's sort of a "given". A great first rule for new animators. I might extend that rule to be "Don't leave the room without first loading up your rendering queue!" Of course, this doesn't really work for those of us who fall asleep _in_ the room!! 🙂 "Rule #2: First learn rule #1." <BG> — James — Choreo Motion —

>>for those of us who fall asleep in the room… Hey, I did that Friday for the first time ever. After several nights with about 3 hrs sleep, working all day, then performing in an evening Easter production, I was doing exactly what you recommended (preparing a 20-hr rendering queue) when I woke up an hour later with my hand still on the mouse. Who knows what kind of amazing modeling I did while I was asleep. <g> Did I join some kind of club or something? JKJ

> Who knows what kind of amazing modeling I did while I was asleep. <g> < ROFL!! Better take a look at those meshes just in case! > Did I join some kind of club or something? < Oh ya, of course!! You've been initiated into the WUDOK Club, or the Woke-Up-Drooling-On-Keyboard Club!! <BG> Heck, I just close the shades, then I can't tell if it's 2:36 in the morning or afternoon. The scary part is when you finally leave "the room" to discover your guess was wrong about the am/pm thing!! 😉 — James — Choreo Motion —

ROFL! Next time look IMMEDIATELY in the mirror. If you have marks from your keyboard on your forehead you should check your model closely … 🙂 -M
