To all interested DXF DUDES: I wanted to interject Hash Inc's feelings on DXF…. I think it is important to note that we worked on DXF import for almost two years! with little success… we would very much like to have a compatible DXF import, but the entire industries feeling is that successful DXF to SPLINE conversion CAN NOT be done at this time! We would very much like to support a fully compatible DXF import, but, in essence, we gave it our best try and decided to move on to other things… in truth the progran still supports DXF import using the import option in the file menu… we left it there for users who have found it useful. We just choose not to advertise it's presence because we feel it's performance is much less than desirable. On the positive side we have moved on to further enhance our DXF EXPORT to be even more useful for those of you who use polygon based programs for their tremendous effects capabilities. We now include variable polygon resolution and a selectable polygon subdivision tool. In summary, Hash will continue to support DXF EXPORT fully and DXF import is still available in a very limited form for those who feel they must have it. We feel we can not improve the import feature at this time but that may change in the future. DXF EXPORT will be an advertised feature but officially, we have no import feature… 3DS users! We still support DXF EXPORT! Thanks for your time and let's end this detrimental dxf debacle deftly <g> Steve, Hash Inc.

Steve Thanks for taking the time to inform us of your point of view. <<3DS users! We still support DXF EXPORT!>> Some of us have noted ( after extensive testing ) that dxfs exported from Hash sculpture module, although they work most of the time in 3ds, have holes in them which show up when they are bent with bones or smoothed with smooth ( Bones pro plug ins ). I will continue to use sculpture as one of my modeling tools but its use is limited because of this problem. What happens specifically is that verts on an edge are not attached but just lie on top of the adjacent edge which has no corresponding vert. The mesh looks fine until it is bent or smoothed. The fix in 3ds would require finding all of these loose verts, creating a corrosponding vert across from them and welding. Way too time consuming. Are you aware of this? Is it fixed in the upgrade? I understand that its no problem for hash users, and it may not be worth the trouble for you to fix it in pursuit of some business from 3ds users. Thanks Ed

Ed, the problem with holes in the meshes has been corrected in v3…. Another thing I forgot to mention is that we now export DXF motion files!! This virtually eliminates the need for the Bones IPAS…. We've spent alot of time enhancing our DXF export I hope that you will find A:M is an excellent companion to 3DS and lots of new users will too! <g> Steve, Hash Inc.

Steve, motion files in DXF export? That is a good news to me. Will this work for Playmation 2.0? Mei-Tien

Hey, I own Animation Master 3.0 \. What the heck is DXF motion File Export. It sounds like something I need. 🙂

The DXF motion file export works on the principal of capturing data in a dxf format for your keyframes to be imported into a 3D program capable of doing the "tweening" We will have more specifics on this as soon as a press release is ready…. Steve, Hash Inc.

If you get this feature working I will scream giddily with delight. There are a lot of things I can do easily in AM that I would like to use in 3ds. This would give me some of that ability. Can't wait to hear more info.

If you select all verticiea in the object and then weld the verticies this problem should go away. Be carefull if the verticies are really close it may attach to the wrong vert face. Ryan @IMI

Thanks . but the verts are not close together in this particular problem Ed
