Computer Artists!
I hope you guys and gals are all enjoying life…..
What's the deal with Animator Studio? I've not heard
much about it recently, and would like to buy it yesterday.
Any US or UK release dates, prices or additional info
would be immensely appreciated.

AASTUDIO will be released somtime this spring. We do not have a specific
release date yet.
Watch this forum for the press release announcing that it is available.

OK Brian, thanks for the response.
I look forward to it's release.
Could you answer one basic question for me?
I understand that AAStudio is supporting 24 bit animation
through AVI files. AVI isn't particularly known for it's
quality, is there some new .AVI format that AAStudio uses?
Does AAStudio simply use .avi files for previewing? A great
way to work would be to view a low res "flic" showing whatever
edit choices/effects you have applied to your sequence, and then
to have a "RENDER" button where it goes off and applies your
edits/effects to your stream of full-res .TGA files.
Any pointers you can give would be appreciated….

You have complete control over the quality of the AVI file. There are a number
of different compression schemes that you can save that will give varying
results. Depending on your playback needs, you will choose a different flavor
or compression for your AVI.
When using the software, as opposed to saving a playback clip, you are working
in true 24 bit uncompressed format. This means there is absolutely no loss or
degredation.

And you're still able to play back your sequences in real-time?
Wow!
Thanks for the info.

"Does AAStudio simply use .avi files for previewing?"
No – AAStudio uses an uncompressed AVI format, like AAPro uses Flic. It's the
native format that you work in. When you create anything, it's in that
rendered state you were talking about (unless you're doing something over time,
you can view wireframe preview before rendering).
Nik,
Along with uncompressed .avi, wouldn't it make sense to
support the PAR's .ani file format?
It's rapidly becoming a standard amongst 3ds users.

Hi Nik-
You've probably answered this _x_ number of times but…
What about saving in a Quicktime format…
Thanks.

It's nice to be able to say, "Sure!"
