Steven, I, too, am a 3DStudio user and am located in the Milwaukee area. I don't know how many of us there are in our regional area, but what are your feelings on starting a 3DStudio users' group? I also have some interest in architectural rendering and walkthroughs, but have only had commercial success with computer presentation animation. Recently ordered a Diaquest and am hoping to be able to stir up a little more commercial interest. Roger D.

Roger, I think a 3D Studio User's Group is a great idea! I hadn't given it much thought since I personally know the only other two people interested in 3D Studio in all of Rockford. I'm afraid I can't be of much help at starting one up since I'm currently an officer in the local chapters of the AIA, Mac U.G., and AutoCAD U.G. I think my wife would tolerate my having an affair better than if I became an officer in another group; but I'm willing to help promote the idea. I also hope to get a Diaquest and Panasonic AG7750 as soon as I can afford them. Right now I record to an AG1960 using a TrueVision VideoVGA. The output is great but its made me eager to get into frame accurate TGA recording. Let me know what you think of your Diaquest when it comes in. Do you know if the Milwaukee AutoCAD U.G. is still alive? The Rockford group considered having a joint meeting with them once. Steven D. Elliott Visual Language Systems, inc.

Roger, There is already a user group in the Milwaukee area!!!! Mike Bahr and I co-founded it last summer. Both of us have been too busy to organize for a few months so there have no meetings for a while. However, I am ready to get fired up again. Of course we made it pretty broad and called it the Milwaukee Multimedia User Group, but 3DS is definetely the prime focus, followed closely by Renderman. Please contact me, I am trying to get a feb meeting, and have asked Pixar to send me some tapes to show at the meeting. My number is (414)223-4897. Anil

Anil, I'd be interested in learning more about your user's group as well. I might not be able to make the trip from Rockford very often but I'd like to keep in touch. Does your group have a newsletter? What is the annual membership fee? Let me know when your next meeting will be by Email and/or I'll try calling you. Steven D. Elliott Visual Language Systems, inc.
