I was only blaming Excel 4.0 of being quite buggy.
But you're right of course. In fact, what does Microsoft have with this 64K?
Don't they know how to program? I always saw this limit in every compiler I saw
from them…
And do you by any chance know why System Resources became GDI so suddenly? Only
to be able to claim there were no more problems with System Resources I bet!
Hell, I don't even know what GDI stands for! Do you?

4.0 was pretty buggy. (I hated when it corrupted files the most.)

Well, 64K is definitely the segment size for the 8088 processor, so maybe it
all stems from that.

I believe they do know how to program, htey just can't figure out how to "fix"
it without breaking any of the Win3.1 archatecture. (I guess they haven't
figured out how to do VDM's like IBM has.) Win95 has the same limitation for
now, but they are trying to move GDI to the flat ram area.

You got me. Maybe because it sounds like it's not as much of a problem if your
GDI is low rather than your "system resources."

Isn't GDI Graphics Device Interface, or something very similar? I seem to
remember reading that somewhere… don't know that it's germane, but it is the
one explanation of the acronym that I've seen.

I think you're right about that. It seems to explain the presence of a GDI
device in the printer list when you look in some Windows installations.

I know GDI memory keeps all the info about open Windows, so that could be it.

I know Bob Comer and I (the "OS/2 folks" you mentioned) still use our Amigas
quite frequently. However, if we must use a PC, we at least want one that
multitasks. OS/2 does that and is my favorite PC operating system. Your
mileage may vary.

through here? I have a nice Warped 486, too, but I still use my Amiga and
AutoPilot the most. What does it take to be a part of Team OS/2?
