I'm currently experiencing a hugh problem with pallet swapping.
I'm a CBT Developer/3D Studio Animator.
Our products contain several multimedia elements. These include:
3D/2D animation and static BMPs
AVI video
MPEG video (Biggest Problem Child)
WAV/MIDI Sounds
We'er using iconAUTHOR to tie it all together.
I understand there are software solutions available that will create a "Super
Pallet" of 256 colors based on those most frequently used and color fix the
rest.
I would prefer a Windows-based solution.
How does Animator Studio stack up? Can I reasonably execpt Animator to cure my
pallet woes.

I am not sure from your message what you are using to create animations. Is it
3D Studio? If so, the "super palette" you are refering to is called a Custom
Palette. You can create a cusom palette that meets your needs in Windows (i.e.
236 colors with the first and last ten unused) and use that palette to render
your FLC file from 3D Studio. Your 3DS Flic will use only that custom palette
you specify.

Not for FLC files. Animator Studio uses AVI files primarily. It will read in a
FLC file and convert it to an AVI for you. You could then use the AVI files in
your presenations, which don't have this palette problem, so I guess the answer
is yes, although not how you originally intended.

You should use Animator Pro for this.
Join all your flics in Ani pro and use the one palette option. This will make a
master palette for you.
also, you can build a master palette yourself and do a re-map with the fit
option set to on.
I hope this option has not been removed in "Anim Studio" as it works well.

We do a lot of work in Authorware; I have the following suggestions:
1) Use the default Windows 256-color palette, if possible: it's an incredibly
well-heeled palette, and is appropriate for most any purpose.
2) Use Photoshop to generate custom palettes: create a big RGB image and place
representative images from your different objects into it. Convert to indexed
color, and save that palette. (You'll have to run the results, such a GIF file,
through Animator Pro to save the palette for optimization in 3D Studio
renderings.)
