ANIMaxx

I have two example files I downloaded from this forum (chopper.fli and
solar.fli) that are 640×480/256. ANIMaxx will not play these, but
Trilobyte's play06.exe program will. Doesn't ANIMAxx have the ability to
play flick files that have a magic number of AF12, or does it only handle
AF11 files? ANIMaxx does not appear to use the speed number included in
.fli file headers. It seems to play flick files only at one speed. Speed
control should definitely be included in the next version. I set up a .ani
script for a sequence of 512×512/256 images I have. When I played the
script, it looked like there were some delays in loading color tables
between frames. The abrupt change in color before getting the final
look-up-table reduces the effectiveness of the animation. Can the
color-table loading be double-buffered to make this transition smoother?
In your next version, it would be nice if you could autosize the window to
match the image size. My 512×512 images get cut off when I load them into
the program. I have to resize the window so I can see the whole image.
The size of border area around the picture should be user-controllable.
All of these comments and questions are NOT complaints; just feedback that
could make your program even better. Thanks. —Joe DeWitte
