#Windows 95 and 3DS4
12 messages in this thread
It's good to hear that at least some people are able to run 3DS R4 in Win95. I
would like to know if Autodesk is developing a purely windows version of 3D
Studio? Not just the same program running under the Windows environment.

Yes, 3DS r5 will be for Windows NT. Not for Windows 95.

Do you know if they might be planning a Win95 version? I work for a small
interactive multimedia company and we use R4 extensively. But with all the
configuration problems and GPF errors that we get with Windows 3.11 we're
looking forward to Win95. I just wanted to make sure that it would run under
that environment. Also a more windows like interface would be welcome. I hate
having to reboot my machine everytime I need to manipulate a texture or create
a new one.
Thanks in advance,
S
Steve,
I'm a Win95 beta site and I'm running 3DS rel. 3 from Win95 and it 'appears' to
run as fast as from DOS -and- I'm able to load and use my VESA drivers with it
(3DS)… I'm happy. Even more exciting is that I'm able to also run Animator
Pro from Win95 (which I've never been able to run with Win 3.11).

I'm VERY interested in hearing ALL information about using 3DS on
Win95…….what you think…..tips…..likes/dislikes…performance….
installation process… etc, etc, etc, etc, ……. 🙂 Lemme' know!!!! E-mail
or post; doesn't matter to me…….I'll be waiting…Thanks.
I too,
Thanks
Hi
I am using 3DS3 on win95 preview and have so far no problems.
The only thing that I dislike is that I cant switch from 3ds to win95 and back.
The result is a screwed up screen, maybe win95 or 3DS doesnt clean up and
refresh
the video memory well, and ultimatively I have to power off/on my machine…
Speed and so seems not to be harmed by win95, at least not in the modelling
env.
Good luck on experimenting further…
Best regards

All of the stuff that Gary has said seems to say no.

Hi guys,
Just a quick reminder of what Microsoft told people developing software fro Win
95: Microsoft said that if you were developing for Win95 simply develop it as
if it were going o be run on Win NT. So my guess is that if it works in one
it'll work on the other….

Hmm, interesting I have heard conflicting statements if Win95 will support
OpenGL, do you know if it will or not?

Hi Mark,
As far as I know, yes it will. I just got in the Final Preview verision, and
it didn't load well on my machine, so I'll tell you when I get it working. The
documentation didn't offer much either…
Alex.

That's what I wanted to know, thanks.
