ELECTRONIC ARTS RELEASES ENHANCED,
EXPANDED GRAPHICS ANIMATION GENERATOR

San Meteo, California, May 7,1987 – Electron Arts has released Deluxe Video
1.2, the enhanced and expanded version of the ground-breaking video animation
program release last year. Among the features introduced in this new version
Overscan for an edge to edge TV look, interlace for broadcast quality
recording and a faster frame rate for smoother animation and scrolling.
Deluxe Video 1.2 also contains a free Post-Production Kit disk. The disk
contains 17 scene generators, 18 new images, seven instrument sounds, three
sound effects, four wipes, eight pictures, eight songs for use in video
productions. Among the effects are custom title screens, and several parodies
of movie marquees that home video producers can add to their creations
Deluxe Video 1.2 enables Amiga owners to generate animated art sequences and
titles, add background music and sounds and store the results on disk for use
in business presentations, educations environments and home entertainment. The
program can also export the art and music to a videocassette recorder or
television video equipment.

"Deluxe Video married the home computer and the VCR, creating a whole new
category of personal computer software applications" said Stewart Bonn, vice
president of Electronic Arts' Creativity Division. "It paved the way for
desktop video production the same way Pagemaker on the Macintosh created
desktop publishing. In Deluxe Video 1.2, we've made the tools even more
powerful, and added several new features that will make the program more
useful to both home and professional video producers."
Among the new tools are an Overscan feature, which removes screen borders,
allowing the video image to fill the entire monitor screen. "The result us a
true edge-to-edge TV look,: said Bonn. Deluxe Video 1.2 also features a new
Interlace Graphics Modem that generates a broadcast-quality signal, enabling
users to achieve professional-looking results when transferring images to
broadcast-quality equipment. These two features make Deluxe Video 1.2 even
more useful to both broadcast producers and home users.
Several of Deluxe Video 1.2's enhancements are designed to take greater
advantage of the Amiga's power. Deluxe Video 1.2 has a faster frame rate than
it's predecesso, which means that animated images and scrolled text move more
smoothly, without jerking. It also supports larger instrument sounds, for
richer, fuller sound. Also, users who own the Amiga's expanded RAM have access
to a larger library of sounds and images while creating their videos.

Deluxe Video 1.2 uses Amiga Kickstart 1.2, and can be used with Commodore's
Genlock 1300 tm, which enables user to overlay images created with Deluxe
Video 1.2 onto pre-recorded videotape. "This feature is useful for adding
subtitles, credits and special graphic effects to videos," said Bonn.
Deluxe Video 1.2 accepts graphics from DeluxePaint, DeluxePrint, instrument
sounds and musical scores from Deluxe Music Construction Set, Instant Music
and It's Only Rock'N Roll, and pre-created art images from the Deluxe Library
of clip-art disks. "Together, Electronic Arts' Deluxe Creativity Series
represent a comprehensive desktop video, graphics, and music studio with
capabilities never before available to the mass market," Bonn said.
Bonn noted that in the year Since Deluxe Video's original release, the program
has found widespread use in business, education, and the media. "We've heard
of
people using it to generate sales presentations, video slide shows,
point-of-sale videos, animated commercials, video storyboards for ad agencies,
and educational videos. Smaller TV stations are saving thousands of dollars by
using it as a low-cost character generator. And home users tell us they enjoy
adding special effects to their own home video productions. It's opened up a
whole new world of creativity that used to be available only to professionals
in the video business."
Electronic Arts is the leading publisher and distributer of entertainment and
productivity software for personal computers.

Not only do you get the new software, you get the new spiral bound manual to
boot! Oh, yeah, please give the US Snail 4-6 weeks to deliver before you whine
and complain to our poor overworked customer service folks (the ones who have
to answer Bard's Tale and Starflight questions all day!).

DVideo 1.2, send in the original unprotected disk. If you didn't get an
unprotected copy od DVideo 1, but want your 1.2 unprotected, add $20 to your
