Area Drawing Primitives

What language are you using C if so please elaborate a little…but some of the 'primitives' sre so fast that you need to tell them to wait with the function Delay() from the DOS library…also makesure that you have initialize every buffer needed for this sort of hacks…

Ah … I found the problem with the area draw stuff… The language I was using is CSI Multi-forth, and the problem lies therein. I was expecting a result from AREADRAW, when in fact the defining function returned none. A problem with the file that defined the graphics primitives. I did observe however that the setup time for a MOVE, DRAW loop for, say 100 to 200 vectors was fairly long! I was hopeing to use these primitives for an interactive screen update (read game), but this seems to be out of the question considering the amount of time required to recalculate and re-enter the vectors into the vector table. The time to actually draw the shapes was super fast, but the setup … Is this something that you have observed also or is this maybe Forth's fault? I don't believe that forth could be that slow. It has never disapointed me before. Thanks anyway -Steve Berry-

Stephen, come on over to the Forth forum and ask your questions again. We should be able to clear some things up. For one thing, if you're using MOVE and DRAW then you may want to re-think. CSI included them as general-purpose drawing commands. The arguments have to pass through a transformation matrix, etc. etc. Nice if you want to scale things, not so good if you're looking for speed.
