#CBM Sold Rumor.
8 messages in this thread
I heard today that eithre Sony or Panasonic bought CBM's American
operations. Anyone else heard that?

Wayne, I think that's probably wishingful thinking on someone's part.
If it were true, I'd expect the stock to have skyrocketed today — and I'd
also have expected some mention of it on the newswires — there isn't a
word.
If Sony did buy CBM, iit would be a mixed blessing depending on how they
handled it. If they kept the Amiga line, I'm sure that they would improve
on it and do a good deal of marketing. If they didn't keep the Amiga, then
they bought CBM for the custom chip technology, and bye-bye Amiga.
But, since it's not on the newswire, it probably didn't happen.

IT's hard to beleive – I haven't heard it, either – but it would most
likely be wonderful; those companies both understand the term "marketing",
something CBM hasn't a single clue about.

Wayne,
Just checked the news services…nothing in them about it.
Don
Don,
I think I may know how the person I talked to came up with the rumor.
Apparently there are discussions with Either Matsushita (sp?) or Sony about
marketting the CDTV in Japan. Perhaps this report was scrambled but the
usual rumor mill mixing machine!
wmc
CBM is definiately working to get CDTV marketed in Japan.
But they are not marketing the company to be purchased, just boxes to
consumers <G>
(i got a 3day trip to tokyo out of CBM last december) <grin>

Jerry, I think the standard "Rumor Mill Accruacy Filter" acted on the CDTV
marketting effort and converted it into the company sale event :^}
