Hi All: The Sony XV-D300 Digital Special Effects Generator seems to be a video framebuffer. It is available for under $300 and looks like it would work well with something like DCTV for slow scan digitizing. Has anyone attempted this to see if it would work for recording images off a VCR (unlikely to work with DCTV absent a TBC or a digital still frame). Would anyone know if this would work? – via Whap!…….from Chicago

Bill, I do not know anything about the Sony XV-D300, but another alternative Is the Hitachi VY-15A now being dumped bt Sears for $499 (list $999). It is a color video printer with a frame (actually field) buffer. It has composit video IO so it works great with DCTV. Both to grab images for slow scan digitising and as an output device for DCTV. If you are interested you had better check with your local Sears soon because when they are all gone that's it! -Paul-
