Help me help me! My A3000 has an apparent serial port problem. My 2400b modem works fine when connected to the serial port, but my MIDI adaptor does not. I tested the MIDI adaptor on an A1200, and it works fine there. The MIDI adaptor used to work on the A3000. Do the 8520 chips have anything to do with this? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Are all the pinouts on the 3000 the same as on the 1200? If not, that could be the problem. Steve

Steve. Yeah, same pin outs. It used to work just fine on the 3000. It's just a generic ol' MIDI adaptor. I just bought a Supra 14,400 baud modem, and so far it has been working perfectly on the 3000. So the serial port works, and the MIDI port works, but they dont work together! I think I'll just kill myself. Sorry to bother everyone. Just kidding. I'm going to be dangerous and try swapping the 8520's. If you or anyone else has a suggestion, I'm all eyes. see ya :',

Scott, Check to see that you've got +12v and -12v on the proper pins. Anybody know whether there are pico fuses on the power pins in the A3000? David

The A1200 MAY not allow as much power draw from the modem port pins as the A3000 allowed. {@_@}
