cheath, What is the Ashell secret? I can only get it to run with the Newcon-handler and not with ConHandler (ConMan)? Just changing the one line in the mountlist (for NewCon: ) decides whether I see anything at all or not. With NewCon-handler I get a fixed window (no conman F key functions). With ConHandler, the memory goes down slightly when I click on the icon but no window comes up. The section in the docs on how to install ASH really doesn't tell me enough. It says I've got to edit my startup sequence, take out or modify the Resident statement, and later it talks about splitting the staratup sequence with Ashell from s:shell-boot template. I've tried everything in the docs that I could find, but no way will Ashell run with ConMan. A few other people have said it is no problem… so what are the key files, where do they need to reside, from whence and how are they ref'd…HALLLP!!! wmc

I suspect you are activating conman *after* you start ashell, therefore you get a con: or newcon: window, not a conman one. Once you are in ash, have you tried ASHell again? If so, does the new shell have a conman window? Just make sure you mount or setcon or whatever *before* you ASHell anything. sdb

Scott, I only ever get the NewCOn window, never a conman window even on the 2nd or later invocation. wmc

That is strange… Only thing I can think is that your some how not getting conman mounted… If you want to take the trouble to mail me the files (startup-sequence boot files, mount list, and a directory listing of your boot disk) I'll try to duplicate the problem here. sdb

Scott, As soon as I quit mounting NewCon in the startup-seq everything worked fine. Thanks for the help. wmc
