#Multi-sync monitor

A quick question:
I had been using an old NEC Multi-Sync on my kid's Amiga 1000 for several
years, and it (the monitor) just died. I have to replace it, and wonder if
anyone has experience favorable or un- to report on the Panasync 1081i. I
saw one ad that stated that Flicker Fixer is required with this monitor – I
can't imagine why. Is this true?
Any help, comments, etc appreciated.

I can't tell you about the Panasync, but if it won't go down to
15.75kHz then it won't work on the A1000.

I have the PanaSync C1381 (interlaced) and really like it on my A3000.
However, it does not scan down to 15.75 kHz, so the only usable scan rate
is the 31.5 kHz signal produced by the A3000's built in delinterlacer.
If the 1081i you are looking at also doesn't scan down to 15.75 kHz, than
it is true that you will need something like ICD's FFV to use the monitor
with the A1000 (remember, the stock A1000 doesn't have a video slot, so
you can't use the C= deinterlacer or MicroWay Flicker Fixer cards).
If you are not interested in adding a deinterlacer like FFV to your A1000,
then don't waste your $$ on a multiscanning (MultiSynch) monitor… just
get a C= 1080 or equiv.

Assuming all Panasync 1081i's will not scan down to 15.75 then I guess my
logical move is to add a flicker fixer _and_ a Panasync to my A2000 and
move the 1080 from that to the kids' A1000. I guess the old NEC would scan
that slow, since in my ignorance I was using it with nothing but a
cobbled-up cable on the A1000. Thanks for the info.
