We DO have the Syquest/Seagate ST-01/Syquest Utility Software combination
working in a (Dell System 310) '386-based machine at my office. It was also
ordered from Hard Drives International. However, I was not the person who
installed it…so I don't know what they did to get it to work…
The device driver software that is provided with the HDI package sets up
the Syquest drive so that the Seagate host adapter thinks that it has 8
HEADS, 17 SECTORS, and 638 CYLINDERS (i.e. it makes the Syquest drive
appear as a Seagate hard disk drive). This should allow you to get around
the problem of having 68 blocks per track on an MS-DOS volume.
Anyway, you want it (the Seqgate adapter), it's yours. I'll send you the
ST-01 and the Syquest Utility Software. I'll tell you how much it's going
to cost via CompuServe Mail.

Do you know if the Seagate controller has a low level format program in ROM
like the Western Digital one do? I have an ST-01 controller, and am
thinking of hooking up my ST157N to it, but the manual that I have is for a
Paired set (or something like that) and aparently it comes already low
level formatted. The 157N is currently being used as an Amiga (supra
wordsync) harddrive, so obviously isn't low level formated the same. Any
info you can give me would be appreciated.

I know that's the address for thier ST506 type drives, BUT is it also
true of their SCSI host adapter? Seagate ST-01 that is?

Yup. The same location jumps you into the Seagate SCSI controller's
low-level format routine. TRY IT!
