As I understand what I've read, Commodore's enhancement won't take the
flicker out of the standard interlace modes, just their new "productivity"
ones. So the Flicker-Flixer's far from out-moded yet. Although putting it
in a A3000 might have other problems due to the placement of the video
slot.

Your interpretation of what you read is incorrect. The video enhancer
in the 3000 gives the same results as MicroWay's FlickerFixer.
Frank, the display enhancer in the 3000 is equivalent to the flickerFixer.
There is no reason to put a fF in a 3000 and putting a fF into a 2000 with
ECS makes the 2000 graphic capability nearly identical to the 3000. You
might want to take a look at FFQA.LZH in Library 1 which explains some of
this in a question and answer format. Peter.

super high resolution displays like the 1280×400 and 640×960?

No. Both flickerFixer and the Display Enhancer (mis)behave in the same way
in the 1280 x 200/400 modes. They only display every other pixel.
The 640 x 960 mode is "interlaced productivity" mode. It runs at 31.5 KHz
horizontal, so there is no way that it can be deinterlaced on a VGA rate
monitor.
Despite two years of hype for the ECS, the designers of the A3000 chose to
use the display enhancement method pioneered by MicroWay. Owners of the
A2000 have been able to have A3000 quality displays for over two years.

That's funny! The 3000 I played with had no apparent interlace at all. It
is my understanding that if you plug a VGA/MultiSync into the 31.5 KHz (I
think that's it) video port you won't get interlace flicker. If you plug
into the other port (15.25 KHz ???) you will still get the flicker. The
system I saw had a 1950 plugged into the 31.5 KHz port. Rock solid!
I think the productivity mode is a non-interlaced hi-res mode for the
standard video ports that are present on all Amigas. However, I still
think a MultiSync is required.
Anyone care to tell us if this information is correct?
