#ProPage Landscape

Does anyone know if ProPage can do landscape output to a dot matrix
printer? I have this sinking feeling that it can't…and that's just what I
want to do!

Did you try setting your WB preferences to landscape mode as well as making
the page 11×8.5 in ProPage? I can't remember if I did get ProPage to output
that way or not, but I think I did.

Pray tell how do I set Preferences to landscape mode? I thought it only
let me select certain predefined (all portrait) page sizes…

Go into preferences, and chose the printer icon, and once it's loaded up,
select the Graphic 1 button. There should be a button (actually a pair)
one for Horizontal, one vertical. It should be set on Vertical,(the same
as Portrait) and if you click on the Horizontal (landscape) gadget, that'll
do it.

it's that easy! I guess I forgot to check all of the pref screens….

(This is actually a tag on to my original reply to you)
I tried switching the Preferences aspect. No joy. Still prints out in
portrait mode.
Any other ideas to try? A nasty memory is starting to percolate thru my
skull to the effect that the LJII always treats graphic dumps as 'portrait'
information and that printing graphics in landscape mode actually requires
the application program perform the logical rotation (if I may coin a
phrase)

Yes, I heard from Gold Disk Cust svc (or at least some sort of GD rep –
online) that in fact PP will NOT print in the landscape mode bitmapped.
The only options you have for landscape mode is to either buy a Postscript
printer, OR buy PixelScript a postscript interpeter, OR you could try POST
a shareware postscript interpeter, that will also handle Postscript Color,
if you have a color printer. I have a Postscript printer here, but also use
POST once in a while for color work, as for some reason PP seems to offset
the page to the right when printing directly to my Paintjet. I've never
seen the output from Pixelscript, but if it's output is as good as PP's is
then you should probably go that way. POST seems to be a little rougher
than PP's direct printing, but again it comes with no fonts, so you have to
have Postscript fonts. (I do, I got the GD CGFont set.) If you need any
other info, please feel free to ask.

Thanx, I sprang for the CGFont disk set too. I'll see if I can find POST
around on some lib somewhere…

The only version I could find on CIS is an older one. (I think) I have a
newer only that has the bulk of the program in a .library, and it seems to
run a little better too. I'll try and find the original archive, and upload
it soon.

As far as I know, there is no way to do Dot matrix landscape. You can do
that and more with postscript output. Getting a copy of Pixelscript would
be the cheapest way to go.

I have never been able to print any postscript files other than the ones
that came with your product as examples. I am using PageStream 1.8 and
always receive an "Illegal command #bindings" or some such message.

You need to do one of two things:
1) put "/bind {} def" into your startup.ps file in PxSConfig (after the
other system functions, its about line 68)
2) send me your PixelScript registration number and I'll send you the fixed
version.

Mark, If your going to use PixelScript I think you'll find it quite useful
especially in conjunction with an '030 accelerator card. I've been able to
RIP large PS files quite rapidly this way and it works fine. Using the
stock 68000 processor does require some patience though.
