#A 3000 Question…

A question about the 3000- When I saw a flicker-fixed 2000 about a year ago, the display was great looking but ghosted anything that moved, especially the pointer. I found this very unprofessional and annoying. Does the 3000 also have this problem? If it doesn't, how does it get around it? Greetings from the Great White North! – Ian –

Ian: I have a FFed 2000 as well, what do you mean by ghosted? I havn't noticed any difference (other than the removal of flicker!) -Mike Schiller CIS: 76416,3065

Mike, If you look (very) closely, when you move the mouse pointer (or any sprite graphic) you'll see a blurring on a flickerFixer equipped machine. This is very noticable in some games such as Arkanoid and Menace (in Arkanoid, the entire game, in Menace just the intro where the big space ship 'spits' out the player ship). I haven't tried these games on the 3000 but I suspect that the results will be the same. -sja

No they aren't on any scan doubled image (200 lines) the image is updated properly with NO ghosting, ghosting will only happen on fast interlaced (400 lines) animations, Ihave verified this, I've seen both the 3000 and have installed a flicker fixer as well. C= display enhancer wins on this point, and C= takes great pains to point that out in the 3000's manual. Ben Leigh's Computers

Well, ghosting appears on almost _any_ movement in interlaced mode when using the 3000. Just move your mouse pointer around and you'll see noticeable (but not terrible) ghosting appear. Of course, no ghosting appears on non-interlaced screens. Mike

That is what I said but, they did mention fast motion in interlace causes ghosting and if somethin is not moving fast (ie below 15 frames / second) there isn't any that I've noticed. True by not moving fast they mean SLLLLOOOW but what else ca you expect it has to do with the way interlace works, have you ever puased a laser disk during motion? Talk about ghosting! Ben

Ian- You must have seen the FlickerFixer working in tandem with a longpersistance monitor, or there was some other problem. I've had one since they first came out, and under normal use there is no ghosting. The F. Fixer is a great product. Tim

I saw the ff working on a Sony monitor. As the pointer was dragged around the screen, a second image struggled to keep up but stayed 2-3 inches behind. I'm very glad to here this was an isolated case- I'm not sure what caused it though, as it didn't seem to be a long persistance monitor. I'm glad there is no problem like this on a ff2000 or 3000. Thanks, Greetings from the Great White North! – Ian –

If _that's_ the type of ghosting you were referring to, rather than a perceived blurriness immediately around the pointer, then the monitor or flickerFixer was not adjusted properly. There are no such 'ghosting' problems with a properly setup system.

On my NEC 3D at work, there is a slight blurring when fast moves are made accross the screen using a flicker fixer. ?|^] Ray Lewis

Ray- I use a NEC Multisync Plus, and haven't noticed any blurring. Maybe the phosphor on your monitor is a little different… Tim
