Sorry to keep bugging you, but I am trying to get as much info on the 3000
as I can.
How much will the educational price be for the A3000 @ 25Mhz, A1950, and
100MB hard drive in the 2-floppy chassis cost? There is a listing on the
edpric.txt file for the 40MB version, but the chassis type isn't mentioned
and a 100MB option isnt either.
When in July will the 3000's be shipped? Early, middle, or late?
If the first A3000's release will have kickstart and WB on disk, will there
be an additional cost to have the 2.0 chips installed when they are
released?
How does the SCSI interface work? I mean, there are alot of SCSI products
on the market such as Optical Disk, CD-ROMS, and external hard drives. Is
it just a matter of plugging these devices in and the Amiga automatically
knows how to handle them or must something special be done?
If I was to get the AT bridgeboard and put it in the 3000, where would I
put the 5.25" drive to go with it?
Does Commodore have plans to upgrade the Amigas to 24-big color, 1.44MB
floppies , or higher resolutions?
If I went to my dealer now and got one of those forms I need to fill out in
order to get the educational pricing and sent it in with payment, would I
get my 3000 shipped with the "first bunch" shipped out or would I have to
wait?
How long is the average turn-around time for Commodore to ship a computer
once they've received the forms for educational pricing? My dealer says 2
weeks, is this accurate?

1. Commodore has the educational prices listed in their area here
on CIS. GO CBM at any ! prompt and read the announcements.
2. Won't know until they actually start to ship. The official
announcement simply says 'shipments are expected to begin in July'
3. No idea since the machines' aren't shipping yet, I *presume*
they'll be set up much like the current dealer demo units with v2.0 on
disk. No idea if an upgrade to ROM will be a free upgrade or not.
4. You'll need a driver for SCSI devices that don't "look" like a
hard disk to the system.
5. The 5.25" drive can be mounted externally…or as an alternate,
you could get a 3.5" drive to replace the 5.25" drive.
6. It's my understanding that Commodore ships units in the order of
receipt of the order for the unit. Then again…if they've got a large
batch ofthem to ship…it may be done by zip codes for all I know.
7. I can't talk about anything that's not announced whether I knew
the answer or not.
8. 2 weeks sounds accurate…obviously for the 3000, the wait will
be longer since they won't start shipping right away.

Michael, we just don't know the answers to lots of those questions, because
Commodore has not told us. Your dealer should have the official price list
for all of the educational prices, and should be willing to give you a
copy.
We don't know exactly when the 3000 will be shipped – the announcement only
said "July." Anything more than that would just be a guess.
You will have to have drivers to run the various SCSI devices
With either Bridgeboard, you will have to get a case for the 5 1/4" drive
and mount it externally.
Commodore has not said anything about their plans to upgrade the color or
the density of the drives. To make a statement about them would just be a
guess, and would be spreading rumors – a dangerous practice.
The educational 3000's should be shipped in pretty close to the order in
which they were received. No one knows how many orders they might have
right now.
It took only ten days to get the 2500/030 my husband ordered under the
educational plan in January, but I suspect it will take a bit longer now –
especially since the machines won't be shipping for several weeks.
Wish I could answer everything to your satisfaction, but the information
simply has not come from Commodore.
