Amiga Seen AGAIN!!??!

My gosh!!! This must be the most I have seen the Amiga outside of it's
"normal" environment! Maybe Commodore has some new ad campaign… well…
I said just "maybe".
In the May issue of "NEW MEDIA", there is a good article in there on the
Amiga and its uses in the multi-media market. The article is called
"Pioneering AMIGA Still Packs a Wallop". There even was a little mentioned
about how well the Amiga was at _networking_, of all things! The article
was well written and took in a lot of the strengths of the computer. The
main problem they seemed to give the Amiga was its poor advertising from
Commodore. The article quoted Commodore as saying The Amiga accounts for
55% of computer sales for Commodore, yet only 11% of Amigas are sold in the
U.S. 🙁
I have been getting this magazine for a number of months now mainly because
our office here somehow got a free subscription. Usually, I just glance on
through, then dump it in to the 'ol trash because of its MAC/PC domination.
This issue really took me by surprise. I had to take it back out of the
trash after I saw the work AMIGA on the cover. A closer look even showed
two reviews at the end of the magazine: Gold Disk's Showmaker and Video
Director. It gave Showmaker a good review and Director an excellent review
🙂
For a magazine without one ad in it for an Amiga product, I find this as a
pleasant surprise.

Have you seen the "new" (only a year old) Consumer Reports PC Buying Guide?
They give all the amigas high marks, and rate the A3000 as a "Best Buy"
even at the old price.
Robert,
I think I remember glancing through the article a while ago when it
was on the news stand shelves. I remember it saying good things about the
Amiga and giving them good marks.
At the end of the article in "New Media", they gave the Amiga the best
"Bang for the Buck" award. By far, I think this has been one of the best
articles I have read in a non-Amiga type magazine in a long time. The
article did good justice to the Amiga and its followers — it just seemed
to have a big gripe with Commodore and its sales/advertising department.

Hmm… I like the Amiga's networking… but I really wish it had email
capability under Novell (hey, Pat @ Oxxi… you listening? <grin>). Ah,
well.
Today must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Jim,
As I recall, the article said that the people that recommended the
networking of the Amiga _were_ using the Oxxi Novell and found it very
capable and easy to set up as compared to other systems.

It is. I like it muchly. I just wish I had IPX/SPX (whatever it is that's
needed for email). I have Ideas for it 🙂
Today must be Friday. I never could get the hang of Fridays.
