#SBPro4 & WB 2.04?
9 messages in this thread
I have been using SBPro4 for a while under WB 1.3, and it works very well.
Since upgrading to WB 2.04, the Forms Designer now locks up. My system is
an A2000 with a GVP 25Mhz 68030 board, and lots of other hardware. Is this
an incompatibility with WB 2.0? Is there a way around this? Thanks in
advance.

BTW, where does the registration card get sent to now? Mine has
Precision's Worcester Park address on it. Thanks again.
Registration for Superbase and other Precision products for the Amiga
should be mailed or FAXed to:

Pat,
Are you aware of anyone who has used SBPro4 to develop an appointment
scheduler module as part of an integrated application? The program
documentation doesn't really address issues regarding how to optimize the
relational aspects of the program.
What I have in mind is to locate a patient from a "tombstone" type
database, verify that the selection is correct, then proceed through a
series of options like:
appointment with a specific provider
next available appointment with a provider (either specific provider
or first available)
then "inject the patient information into the appointment database.
The problems revolve around how to go about setting up the database files
for optimum retrieval. I've set up several aspects of the other parts of
the db program, but am stumped at how to design this component of the
integrated program.
I'd appreciate any suggestions, or references to folks you may be aware of
who've tried to tackle similar problems.
Thanks in advance

Tim —
I know of at least one commercial application (for dentist's offices) that
has been developed using SBase Pro4 on the Amiga. I believe the developer,
Vivian Hornby, is a member of the Superbase Leading User's Group, and you
might want to get connected to that network of users. Their phone number is
206/364-4896.
I can highly recommend membership in this user group for anyone developing
SBase applications — their membership spans all versions and all platforms
for the program.

Tim,
Set up your files as you normally would, making sure that there is a unique
key available in the patient file. Then use a LOOKUP command to determine
whether or not the patient is entered in the file. If you want you can use
a REQUEST 4 to ask for a last name, and then do a REQUEST 20 on the last
name making sure that the current index is on last name. If the user OK's
out of the requester, then you have your record (maybe, they could have
typed something in so you will still have to recheck). If they canceled
out, then you can ask if they want to enter a new one and deal with that
first. Once you have the patient record number, you can insert that into an
appropriate field in the appointment database. If you want to have simpler
access to the patient data, you can also create VTX fields with lookups to
hold the necessary patient data.

Jerry:
Send you registration card to Oxxi directly.
Also, request an upgrade to v. 1.01 (free upgrade). That version will
operate proerly under 2.04.

Thanks for the help.

Jerry, are you running version 1.0 or 1.01? The Forms Designer did have a
LOT of problems in version 1.0 which have now been fixed.
