#HELP! Rev 6 or 6.2 ??
8 messages in this thread
Could anyone tell me a simple way of identifying a Rev 6.2 motherboard
in an Amiga 2000?.
It is marked as a Rev 6 but I am told this could still be a 6.2,
I am told the main difference is something to do resistor pack 901
next to the CPU. I have had a quick look and I have no resistor pack
there, just solder pads.
Any help very much appreciated as I want to get either a Fusion
Forty or PP&S tomorrow at the Amiga show in London but I am told they
fall over if they are not fitted in a 6.2 machine, which is mistake I
cant afford to make.
Hi Paul, Just checked my A1500 bought last October. The motherboard
is marked as Rev 6 as well. As far as I can see I have no resistor
pack 901 either so as my computer is fairly new I would presume it is
6.2. I would ask at the Show. I went to the show on Friday and the
only things greatly reduced was 040 boards so you might be in luck
there.
Many thanks for that, I am hoping that you are right but I will ask
at the show before I lay out the hard earned. I am off to catch the train
in about an hour.
I have heard news that the PP&S 040 is reduced to 820 UKP….at that
price I am going for it.
Also hope to pick up the SupraFAX 14.4 if they hav'nt sold out!.
I have a rev. 6.2 motherboard and it is specifically marked as such.
I don't know if they also made the 6.2 boards and just labelled them
rev. 6. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Thanks for the reply, I have gone for the PP&S and they say its
fine with any Amiga (hmmm), I have afew probs with the HD controller
though (my 2091) but I dont think its terminal. SEE MY OTHER PLEA FOR
HELP
I got my 6.2 motherboard last November, FREE from CBM. I bought a
bunch of third-party hardware and was having a few conflicts with my
6.0 board. I called CBM and they authorized a free swap for the 6.2
board (both parts and labor) at an authorized CBM repair shop in my
area. So if you have problems, you might want to call CBM yourself.
Thats what I call service….somehow I dont think CBM UK are
so obliging but I will give it a try. Maybe they will give me some
new ROMS for the 2091.
I am currently having quite few problems with the PP&S 040….it
refuses to launch any programs from my second HD (Quantum ProDrive
50LPS). It shows up on Workbench but I get " Cannot find your Tool
Type" error with every program on it if I click on the Icons and a
crash if I launch from CLI. The main drive on the card a slower 40
meg Quantum works fine!.
It also steadfastly refuses to work in 68000 mode which is quite
annoying but I have plenty of things to try first, like reading the
manual 😉
