Bobby, Hmm, I wonder if I had confused Dirt Cheap Drives with someone else. I do know that I only called a few places, and one distinctly said to me several times "We work from the house here, call anytime". I could have sworn it was DCD, but according to what you're saying I'm wrong. Perhaps it was "Computers At Large". Thanks for clearing that up, anyway! Bill

Bill, Please remember that many people read these messages and not all read the entire thread. By reading your first message, some people will have gotten the wrong information on one company. Now you say that the company was, PERHAPS, "Computers At Large". You may well be right on your comments on the second company; I do not know. However there are people who may not have seen the correction and who now may also thing the PERHAPS wrong information about a second company. IMHO FACTS, not PERHAPS should be used here. CIS is too valuable, and company reputations are too hard to obtain and maintain, for something like this to happen. This does not mean not to "blast" a company that has not done all that they should to gain and maintain your appreciation but to make sure that company that has done nothing wrong is not accidentally badmouthed. My comments are not rally towards you but offered as general comments knowing how hard SOME companies work to earn YOUR respect. Regards, Hal

Hal, You're right, that's dangerous stuff and I would never want to badmouth a company that doesn't deserve it! I'm a very active consumer, letter writer, etc, and think that companies that work hard deserve recognition, and those that do a poor job deserve to be badmouthed so others know to stay away. I feel bad that I might have used Dirt Cheap Drives as the name of the company that works out of their home, although I have heard some negative press on them here even if they do have three floors in some office building. It's the reason that I didn't buy from them – some folks here were pretty disgruntled with their support/service! I don't feel bad that I said PERHAPS the company that works out of their home is Computers At Large because I did say PERHAPS and anyone that can read and is halfway intelligent can see that I wasn't sure. The other reason is that this isn't a curse in itself (working out of the home), I do it myself! Because I didn't consider this piece of information to be a strong negative, I don't worry about the comment. In fact, several folks here have bought the Texel from Computers At Large and are quite happy with them. I was impressed myself that they were very honest about the fact that they work from the home and said "Call any hours"! Anyway, that's why I don't think my 'perhaps' is such a big deal <g>. Bill
