Barb, I converted the clip, loaded it into AE, then saved as an AI file. It seems to work fine in AE, but I'm pressed for time today and was not able to load it into Illustrator to see if it worked there. Good luck. …..Nancy From Edmonton, AB, Canada .

Nancy — I downloaded the file and imported it into Corel. It works, and it doesn't. All the elements were there …. but they were piled on top of each other. Once I'd pulled them all apart, it was easy to rearrange them. So I'm all set. It would have been relatively easy to recreate the thing from scratch, since it's all type, but I didn't want to mess about stretching the type to match the original. I'm not sure how much success this conversion process would have with a more complex file that wasn't just type. Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it. Barbara

Barbara: how were the objects all piled on top of each other? I had to convert our new flag collection (some of which were really complex) from AE to Illustrator, and they all worked fine when they came into Illustrator 88 or 3.2. We don't have Corel at the office for testing yet, so maybe they do something a little different in their AI EPS reading that we don't know about. I'll look into this in the future. Michael — they were just all on top of each other. I couldn't really see any pattern to the pile as I just clicked on the pile and pulled off whatever stuck. But it seemed like all the characters simply moved to the same X,Y co-ords. I haven't done much importing into Corel, thought it is supposed to support the Adobe Illustrator format. I've gone the other way happily, exporting clipart to the .ai filter and bringing that over to the Amiga (complex maps) with no trouble at all. Cheers, Barbara

For my own info, I'll try it again to see if I can nail down what went wrong. The process works like this: 1) convert to Amiga format; 2) place in AE; 3) save as .ai. I've used objects exported from AE in .ai format with no problem in both Corel Draw and Illustrator. What I think is that maybe, after the conversion process, the objects need to be regrouped. Anyway, I'll experiment with it and post the answer. …..Nancy From Edmonton, AB, Canada
