The MSCDEX functions and CD-ROM device driver functions are doucmented in the CD-ROM Programmer's Guide for MS-DOS CD-ROM Extensions from Microsoft.

so maybe there's someone out there who would like to outwit stupid programs and make money off it… I've got to believe that there is some need to bypass cd's in certain instances.
