Greg, The Matsushita drive which Creative Lab uses and interfaces with the SB Pro and SB Pro 16 are only single session compatible. You can always use another drive such as the Sony 31A which was one of the first Multisession drives on the market, but will have to use the Sony interface. Until Matsushita offers a Multisession drive you do not have many other options if you wish to use the interface section of the card. Considering the quality of the Matsusita drive, you would probably be better off with the Sony Desktop Library LL/N model which is Multisession and includes a Photo CD application and a disc of sample images along with Grolier's Encyclopedia and Great Wonders, all for $469 MSRP. Cutting in here….I am setting up a graph ,,ics work station and want to replace my single session Soundblaster (Matsushita) CD ROM drive with a newer, faster, multisession drive for Photo CD. My vendor can get either the new NEC Model 84 or the new Toshiba which is somewhat faster, but does not know if the Toshiba is Phot CD or multisession. Can you help? Larry

Larry…You might want to consider the Texel drives. The once I have is the 5024 external and has 300+Kb/sec transfer speed and 265mS access time. I bought mine from CDW for $470 (no interface). This is a SCSI drive. Be seeing you. Oh yeah, it is PhotoCD multisession compatable. -Larry

I am getting the new Toshiba which is 300mb transfer rate and 200ms access time….also multisession PhotoCD. Larry

Larry, Do you mind mentioning which SCSI card you are using with your 5024??? I like the specson the Texel but also need to get a card that will have a Syquest and tape drive. I was hoping Future Domain would get Corel certified in the near future… Thanks, Frank

Frank…No problem. I use the Trantor T128. It is no longer made but Trantor has (I believe) replaced it with the T130. Hooking up the drive was just plug-and-play. I just pulled the old drive and hooked up the Texel. BTW, I also use the Trantor with my Syquest 44 Meg drive. Trantor has separate drivers for CDs and writable drives. The transfer rate of the 128 is 1 MB/sec. Hope this helps. -Larry
