Is there any way to get the Icon Editor to save icons smaller than the maximum icon size? Or do I need a 3d party icon-editor, and are there any? Thanks in advance Paul

Paul, What is the problem? Try changing the Highlight menu option from Image to Backfill or Complement. I have found you can save as small as a single pixel sized icon. The border shrinks to fit around it. Chris

Hmmm… I'm not sure what's going on. It still saves brushes I load in as maximum size icons. Anything else is fine. Paul

I use IconLab in conjunction with DPaint. I create the icons images (selected and non-selected) in DPaint, then cut them out as brushes and save 'em. Then I use IconLab (it's old but it runs on a 1200) to combine oops, convert the two brushes to icons then combine the two icons into a single dual-image icon. The process could be a bit simpler but what I've described works well for me.

That sounds workable, but how can I get hold of IconLab? Is it pd or shareware, or commercial (sounds like pd). My main problem with the DPaint/IconEdit solution is not the real estate gobbling – that's mysteriously vanished – but the fact that DPaint seems to handle colors/registers differently than IconEdit/WorkBench. IconEdit will sometimes even lose the black from a brush that multiview shows perfectly well. And 4 or 8 color brushes saved from DPaint sometimes have other, higher register colors in place of them on the WorkBench. Do you have any idea what's going on? I don't. Thanks Paul
