Clint, Recieved VP3 this week and have been looking over the manuals since then. Unfortunately the VP3 INSTAL program refuses to execute so I have not been able to try the new software out on my system. After initiating the Instal program and telling it where to install VP3 on my hard drive I get a system request to "Please insert VP3_fix in any drive." I am tempted to simply un-archive the program myself using LHA, but I thought I had better check with you in case there is something on VP3_fix that I am missing. If I do require VP3_fix, can I get it from you via Cmail? Otherwise, what I see in the manuals really looks great. Everything that I wanted while using VP2 seems to be included here, grass! (wonderful adition), manual placement of trees, enhanced 3D trees, even gadgets to shoot panoramic images! Now if only I could get my hands on VP3_fix. Kapryan Kennedy

Kapryan: The fix-disk should be called VP3_fix. On some systems (for reasons that I don't understand) the install program doesn't recognize the fix disk as being that disk. Yes, just unlharc the .lzh files and copy them over the existing VistaPro files on your hard disk. The install program will just copy one of the VistaPro files, either VistaPro.000 (no accelerator) or VistaPro.881 (accelerator and math coprocessor) and rename it to VistaPro3.0. I tried the install on our 1200 and 3000, and Tim did it on the 4000 and it worked properly, but we've gotten several reports of users having problems with it. When you unarchive VistaPro.xxx (whichever version) run it and see what the Version number is (Control panel, upper right). It should be 3.04b or 3.05 (exactly the same, but the install program was worked on between .04b and .05.) If not, I will email you an update. btw… Did you get three (3) disks with the package? Maybe they messed up and accidentally gave you a fix disk instead of the Program disk? Is it possible for you to email me a "List" of the disk's contents? (From Shell or CLI, type "List >ram:Clint.lst df0:" [with program disk in df0:] and email me Clint.lst) That would help me tell just what they did send you. VRLI's shipping has been a bit on the chaotic side lately. <sigh>

Clint, I have 3.03 – and am having a great time with it. You say 3.05 is the newest? Could you possibly Email it to me? Rick

Richard: VistaPro changes since 3.03 ————————— 3.04a Fixed bug which prevented AGA images from being created with mod 16 widths in PAL and NTSC modes. Fixed bug which allowed the actual image width to get out of sync with the RastPort Bitmap width which caused wrapping of the far right portion of the image to the left in some cases. Made elevation 0 special on topographic map so that ocean areas displayed properly. Added John's adjustment to code for producing waves. 3.04b Added code for hi_of_4() from John to fix bug where some areas of the landscape would not render due to the erroneous assumption that they were hidden from view by a nearby polygon. 3.05 Install program modified. No changes to VistaPro itself other then changing number from 3.04b (which sounded like beta) to 3.05. Clint <VRLI>

Clint is there any way to bring scripts made on the PC version to the Amiga version of VP??? -Jonathan
#29964From: Clint Woeltjen@VRLIMay 12, 1993 6:51 AM
Jonathan: First, you need to edit out the <cr> at the end of each line. The Amiga uses <lf> as the line terminator, while the PC uses <cr><lf>. This is simpler than it sounds, using ed, the script will appear to have a blank line between each line, just remove the blank line. This is assuming that you are using a simple MakePath script. A script that takes advantage of all of the 3.0 script features on the PC will have to be translated to the equivalent Amiga script commands. (Things like PCX will become IFF, etc) Clint <VRLI>

Clint – I have 3.03 as well. I like it a lot, and it has (at moments) compteted with LightWave for rendering time on my system. Being a current-version-hound, however, I would greatly appreciate 3.05. Thank you very much for being so active here, and for being so willing to help your customers directly. You sent me the icon for VP3.03 a while ago, and I was impressed with your involvement with the product after sale. I continue to be impressed. Keep up the good work.

Lin: No problem, glad to be of service! I'll send you the update sometime late tonite when I can get a phone line for long enough. <grin> Clint <VRLI>
