A1000 memory expansion

Hello,
I just picked up a Microbotics memory expansion for my A1000. It is now
populated with 2 megs and I was looking for information to get the second
daughter board so I can push it to 4 megs total. I was also thinking that I
might not really need another board, just different chips…can someone help me
out here? Any and all information can be sent to:
Deryk: if you have a StarBoard2, that only supports a total of two megabytes,
not four. But you can put another SB2 on the bus and have four. –Redmond
Redmond,
Is there any way to tell what I have?? By either serial number or something
on the CBoard?? I was told that this board supports 4 megs. I've had it open
and it appears (I'd have to look again to be sure) that there is another plug
that can be used with either another daughter board or perhaps a SCSI
controller. I already have a CLtd SCSI controller on the pass through, so the
controller on the ram board is out of the question (unless it can autoboot
<G>). Thanks the information and I'll be looking forward to more!

Deryk: we NEVER made a board for the A1000 that supported four megs. The
additional header on the SB2 is for a feature board (there were two choices:
one scsi controller; the other a math chip). –Redmond
Redmond: Hmmmmm…Whelp, someone lied to me… 🙁 Oh well, I guess that I'll
have to try and get my other board to configure somehow. It's an TecMar board
and it DOESN'T autoconfig. I need a memory program to go and search it out. Do
you have any ideas? Math chip huh? <VBG> (Wondering where I can find one!)
Deryk
Deryk: that Tecmar board will be a source of problems. We no longer have the
math chip multifunction board available (and the fpu was only useful if you
wrote your own software). The StarDrive scsi board was very useful. –Redmond
Redmond: How will the Tecmar board be a problem? Meaning that I won't be able
to have the memory configure somehow? And a suggestion for the StarDrive SCSI
board would be to try and hunt around for one right? Or *grin* take a 500 SCSI
controller and plug it in backwards to the exp port here on the 1000…(they
are pin for pin compat only backwards are they not?) %% Deryk
The Tecmar memory board never was 100 percent "ok". It was a very early product
that never got ready for prime-time, so to speak. –Redmond
Redmond–Thanks for the information, I appreciate it alot. The TecMar board is
now history. I sold it for the memory chips to be used. Deryk
Good move, Deryk. That sounds like an excellent trade. –Redmond
