I'm having trouble with a GVP G-Lock. With an A4000 using a Canon A1 camcorder
live, the signal distorts near the top of the screen. It first slopes left and
then is unstable and slides right nearer the top. When playing back from a
S-VHS source the top is OK but verticals have a "s" distortion about 2 inches
down. Monitor is NEC MultiSync. Any others had this problem? Any suggestions?
The G-Lock has been back to GVP for the latest upgrade.
I have the answer but you are not going to like it. I talked the GVP tech
support people about this twice and got the same answer both times: Garbage in,
garbage out. They said that even though your nice Hi-8 camcorder (mine is a
Fuji H80) seems to put out very stable video and even if you can get it work
perfectly with a SuperGen or similar genlock, the Glock is very particular
about the video source that you feed it. Guess what their suggestion is… Buy
a TBC! I almost fell off my swivel chair. But I needed to finish the project,
so I did buy a Prime Image TBC with S-Video in and out and the tearing at the
top of the image totally vanished. Bottom line is this: If you are
dissatisfied, I suggest you demand your money back. I would have if I didn't so
desparately need to complete my project on time. (Also, I could foresee that I
would have other uses for the TBC, which turned out to be correct.)
