Jan, I'd be interested in as much (private) information as you may wish to
share. While I am, as you know, very definitely not a lawyer, I have been a
professional reviewer for more than 20 years and so have some knowledge of the
latitude that is available to legitimate reviewers. Depending upon the type of
suit, I would initially say the publisher has *not* discussed this with a
lawyer fully competent with libel law and particularly the freedom of
reviewing.
I will happily bow to the expertise of others, but as a long-time journalist
very concerned about freedom of the press — and as much of this area of the
law is common — I'd like to offer whatever input I can purely from the

at-'em now, and back from COMDEX so will look forward to it.
And thank you very much for your concern in calling my wife about my recent
illness. I was exceptionally fortunate and it was more of a warning shot than
anything else. But it did put a few things more in focus, one of them being
valued friends such as Rich and yourself. So, to put it bluntly Jan, you ain't
going to get out of another COMDEX breakfast that easily. I wouldn't let a
little thing like a heart attack keep me from something I'd look forward to as
