Syquest and DOS Mounter?

I've got MacLink/Plus and the Dayna DOS Mounter. I use it for floppies all the time, but now I'd like to attatch my Syquest and have it read and write DOS format Syquest cartridges. I know my Syquest works fine on the Mac already, but when it didn't work with the DOS Mounter, I was puzzled and called DataViz and Dayna. They said my disk driver wasn't compatible with DOS Mounter, and recommended a program called "Formatter 5," which they'd sell me for $49.95. A nice enough price, surely, but I'd like to understand bit more about this, to see if I might not already own some disk driver software that would do the trick. I've got an external hard disk, I presume it can with some kind of disk driver software. I think I've got a disk or two that came with various SCSI drivers I've purchased in the past. Is this what they meant by "disk driver software"? How can I tell which "disk driver software" I already have? And do I have any alternatives to buying this little gizmo? Thanks. Read action !
