CBM don't have good press often on the PC World, but guys! what I read on the June issue of PCWorld is really hurting for CDTV!: (page 217, in "Multimedia World", the Multimedia insert of PC World) "The Prodigal Sons of the Multimedia PC – Should you buy a Multimedia Black Box?" – Written by Brian Blum It defines CDTV as "really an aging Amiga with built-in CD-ROM drive", and further states that "Commodore Dynamic Total Vision didn't live up to its name". "This early entry was so badly designed that users would have to wade through DOS-style text and fear bumping into the dreaded C: prompt- all this in the privacy of their own home". Obviusly this guy never saw a CDTV title running, and I would add it seems he don't knows what he's talking about. That's all said about CDTV, no info on titles, and not mentioning the hidden power of CDTV: you can use it as a computer, too. Then it gives a slight praise at CD-I, mentioning it will offer MPEG compression by the end of this year, and continues criticizing every other product while praising the MPC "advantages". Well, that's the purpose of this message, to let you know… I want to know your opinions!. Whant mine? I suggest everyone to write to the Magazine to let they know what we think of CDTV & the Amiga, and especially: CDTV HAS NO C: PROMPT! (I guess he was confused… he should have said that while reviewing MPC under DOS+Windows!!!) 🙂 If you are interested, you can write to: (I'm making my letter now) Paul Worthington, Senior Editor Multimedia World section – PC World 501 Second Street. San Francisco, CA 94107 Phone: 415-267-1771 Their are in their whole right to give excesive praise to the MPC standard (that are 90% or their advertising), but they CAN'T write lies about CDTV. (Yes!, I'm upset!). I hope maybe a few hundred letters can inform him 🙂 If I were CBM, I'll publish a full-page ad next month in the Mag… (the one that reads "Nothing will sell you on Commodore Multimedia like a few minutes with Apple or IBM". 🙂 Thanks for readin' Fernando Cassia Buenos Aires, Argentina.
